Redmond & Mehldau

I recently picked up Nearness by Redmond & Mehldau.  This song is covered on there.  This a beautiful standard with which I wasn't familiar.

I just signed up for a private lesson with Andrew York. This may be the scariest, most intimidating thing I've done as a musician. I plan on presenting the piece "Ether" that I recently finished.

Dreams Come True...They Just Take Time

Several years ago I posted on this blog that I really wanted a Lowden guitar.  A Lowden O-25, to be exact.  That model has a rosewood back and sides and a cedar top.  Back in November I was able to purchase a Lowden on eBay.  An O-23 that is 20 years old.  And is identical to the guitar I had wished for all those years ago with the exception of having walnut for the back and sides.  Already having a rosewood/spruce Martin, I'm thrilled with the walnut/cedar.

Concert

The long awaited concert that I've been promising forever is now up on the weebly site.  Not great, but it's heartfelt.

Revelation

I came to a revelation today.  Sadness invokes stillness.  And stillness makes one listen.  This is why sadness is so productive for me.  I am rarely still enough to hear the truth when it presents itself.  If I am sad, then I hear it.  And it becomes song.

Recording

I had recorded a podcast last week and ended up not posting it.  I went on to explain the fiasco with the mics and eBay and mentioned that I wasn't sure if I was going to get around to recording the Christmas Concert that I had wanted to record.  As I expected, that did not happen.  But, it is possible that I could do some recording tomorrow night.  At least those are my intentions at this point.
